Today we made a walk through the villages of Zaandijk and Koog aan de Zaan in the Zaan area. The Zaan area is one of the oldest industrial districts in Europe. Its history goes back to 1600. The village Zaandijk is wedged between large factories. These factories are now owned by multinationals but their history goes back to the beginning of the windmill based industries. In the village people are restoring old wooden houses in the Domineestuin area. Also building 18th centry replica wooden houses becomes popular.
On the opposite bank of the river Zaanis the open air museum Zaanse Schans devoted to the history of wooden houses and windmills.

Schevingen is the premier Dutch North Sea resort. It is a mixture of Blackpool and Brighton. There is a nice boulevard and there is a large fishing and ferry port.
Some 20 kilomters west of our village are the Kampina Moors. It is a nature reserve. The moorland was in the 19th century partly planted with trees to make a production estate for forest products.
This year I will make a photolog of the Dutch Landscape in all its variety.
My hobbies are Photography, Industrial archeology, Industrial Heritage and Maritime Heritage.
I bought a new Dell computer and I got a Logitech creditcard seize camera as a present. I will now explore what electronic photography will be.
The start is in the village of Castricum near the Dutch Coast.
